Experience a piece of history in this 1928 family lodge.  The Summer Home was built at about the same time as the Lake Lure Dam was built.  The house is completely constructed from Chestnut trees that were located at the bed of the river where the lake is now formed.  The trees were cut and milled on site and the wormy chestnut was used to build the approximately 2800 sq. ft. Summer Home.

Step back in time as you walk into the Summer Home. The original farm sink in the kitchen is overlooking beautiful Lake Lure. Two original clawfoot tubs with shower surrounds are in the two upstairs bathrooms. The beautiful 1920’s wrought iron lighting fixtures light up the house along with the incredible large stone fireplace.  This house has a balance of old charm with modern amenities such as dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and dryer, and a brand new HVAC system. The Summer Home is perfect for the entire family, little kids and older ones, with multiple TVs, toys and spacious living areas for everyone to enjoy. Appreciate the amazing view of Chimney Rock and the beach from the front porches or the comfortable fire pit area while roasting smores or enjoying your favorite beverage. A short walk to the Historic Lake Lure Inn of 1927, beach, marina, park and restaurants, this vacation home will create a lifetime of memories for your family.

Family Get Away
Posted on: 6/4/2018
Bryan June 4,2018 We thought the house was great, and was well prepared for guests. Our family had a very nice time, considering the weather, and it was because of the accommodations. We were even able to enjoy the outdoor gas fire pit, which was great. Rustic, rural, great setting in the woods, yet in walking distance to the lake. The house was well furnished, decorated, and appointed very comfortably. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable. Loved the covered porch, where we could sit outside even in the rain. We would return for another visit.

We are so happy that your family enjoyed your stay with us. Your group gets 5 stars for leaving The Summer Home in top shape when you left. Thank you very much for all the care that you took.

Please call me when you are heading this way again.
